Cosmetic Surgery Claims

We are increasingly being instructed in relation to cosmetic surgery claims or  “medical misadventures” to put it nicely. Of course, it’s not so nice when cosmetic surgery goes wrong. Unfortunately,  botulinum toxin containing products (Botox) and dermal fillers can lead to pain, swelling, infection and inflammation, rash, blurred vision, haematoma and “pins and needles”.

We welcome the introduction of legislation which would potentially restrict the availability of dermal fillers to a prescription only product. This can only be in the interests of the nation’s health and well being where teenagers are looking to access cosmetic treatment. We live in a social media world where the pressure to look perfect is all too real.

As things stand botox has to be injected by a doctor whereas dermal fillers can be injected by anyone. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that this practice can and does lead to numerous claims.

The ban in 2014 on the underage use of sunbeds was overdue. Its time now to tighten this area of health as well.

We are also seeing increasingly injuries caused by Tattoo removal Practitioners leading to some very serious burns.
