Septic Tank Registration Date Revised while NPPR Tax for 2012

In accordance with the controversial Water Services (Amendment) Act, 2012, owners of a septic tank were obliged to register their ownership on or prior to March 31st 2012.

However, the registration system failed to come into effect on that date. Currently, no revised and finalised commencement date for the registration system has been published. It is not possible, therefore, to register yet, so no fees are payable at present.  On the other hand, owners of non principal private residences were obliged to discharge the Non Private Residentail Property (NPPR) Tax due for 2012 by March 31st 2012.

For those who have not done so, in order to avoid imposition of penalties for late payment, payment must now be effected by no later than June 30th 2012. On July 1st, 2012, a late payment charge of €20 per month or part thereof will be imposed in respect of each NPPR property.

For more information such as the manner in which payment may be made, www.nppr.ie furnishes further information in relation to the charge.
