Shane Healy is the Partner in charge of Healy O’Connor’s Commercial Department.

Shane’s areas of expertise in particular are commercial, real estate and employment. Shane advises companies and individuals in starting up their business through to winding up and deals with mergers and acquisitions, franchising and insolvency.

Shane has wide experience in advising on employment issues for both employees and employers. He regularly appears before the Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court. He advises on settling employment disputes and on compromise agreements. Shane also advises extensively on insolvency matters, if a company is facing liquidation, and the Credit Union sector regarding banking.

Shane also advises in respect of all matters relating to entertainment and media law.

Background

Prior to establishing Healy O’Connor Solicitors LLP Shane worked for many years in a top ten Law firm in Dublin, in two different top three Law firms in Australia and in a Commercial Law firm in Cork. Shane has a BCL and an LLB from the University College in Cork and is also a qualified tax consultant holding the AITI qualification from the Institute of Taxation in Ireland. He was entered on to the Roll of Solicitors in 2001.

Shane is regularly invited to speak on the radio and has been published in the Irish Independent on a wide variety of legal topics. He has also lectured in the Rubcion centre to start-up businesses and entrepreneurs.

Acting in High Court proceedings on behalf of a global exports firm who were owed considerable amounts of money by an Irish liquidated company.

Acting in High Court injunction proceedings concerning the removal of a fishing vessel from Irish waters.

Acting in the context of several high-stakes matrimonial divorce disputes including the tracing of international assets.

Acting in numerous High Court proceedings concerning the alleged wrongful removal of a child or children from various jurisdictions including Australia, United States, United Kingdom, France, Poland, Turkey and Hong Kong.

Advising an Irish financial institution in relation to Central Bank imposition of regulatory sanctions.

Advising a UK company on the recognition and enforcement of a significant foreign judgement in the jurisdiction of Ireland.

Advising the owners of a shopping centre on a dispute with the lessees and dealing with the resultant High Court litigation.

Acting for a Middle-Eastern company in a dispute with an Irish software Company in relation to a serious breach of contract. The contract related to the provision of complicated software for use in the company’s product.

Acting in High Court judicial review proceedings concerning the constitutionally of legislation affecting the rights of an individual.

Advising a corporate client in respect of alleged negligence by a bank and acting in the subsequent High Court proceedings against the bank seeking damages for serious financial losses.

Acting in High Court proceedings against a government institution alleging fraudulent misrepresentation resulting in financial losses.

Advising the board of directors of a corporate client in respect of the exit of a number of directors.

Acting in High Court medical negligence proceedings against a hospital relating to alleging loss of sight.

Acting in High Court wrongful death proceedings against a doctor and hospital.
